For a while now we've been thinking Stake casino is on an unprecedented roll, pulling out every trick from its virtual sleeve, with the non-stop release of exciting original games.
And then along came Tarot. A fast and fun crypto game that confirmed our assumptions.
Built on the fortune-telling format of colourful tarot cards, it's an exciting new twist to the gambling world, with the opportunity to bet on what the future will hold.
Three cards are dealt and within that, your fate is found - bust, a handsome prize, or even a pure cash fortune. It's a matter of luck what the cards reveal. But whatever it is, it's always fun, since there's nothing more fortuitous, in our opinion, than a unique casino game.
Game highlights:
Fun theme based on tarot card readings
Simple play - zero learning curve, no strategy required
Tip: Stake has increasingly tightened its IP accessibility. That means you may require a VPN service to access Tarot. Turn on a VPN to any country not mentioned as restricted in the Stake Terms of Service. From our experience, it should work. ➜ More info
Tarot Basics and Rules
If you've ever been to a tarot card reading, this game's nothing like that. Well not nothing since it does use tarot-like cards to reveal your fortune. But there's no one reading your cards, and the results definitely aren't about your upcoming life destiny.
Rather, Stake Tarot is a unique gambling game found under the casino's 'Stake Originals' and 'Only on Stake' categories. Like all such games, it has a straightforward user interface (UI), quick rounds of play, and simple, yet attractive graphics to keep you engaged.
This is how the Tarot game looks once the round is complete. MoreLess
The basic setup, as you can see above, is the standard for the genre. So to the left of the game screen there are the main commands being 'Bet Amount' and 'Difficulty' level, as well as the actual 'Bet' button. That means, each round all you'll need to do is:
Enter a 'Bet Amount'
Choose your 'Difficulty' level from the dropdown list - the options being 'Easy', 'Medium', 'Hard', and 'Expert'
Click the 'Bet' button to deal the cards
The 'Difficulty' level you choose, is essentially the volatility of the round. And accordingly, also affects the top prize on the table. Easy mode, for example, pays a top prize of 20X, while Expert level has the highest possible win at 5,000X your bet.
Once you click 'Bet' the game flips the 3 cards on screen, always in the same order. First the middle card, then the left card, and finally the right card.
Each of these cards will have a multiplier. The final payout is calculated as your bet times the left card multiplier, times the middle card multiplier, times the right card multiplier.
The final multiplier is determined by the three card multipliersMoreLess
At the end of the round, the final calculation will be shown on screen, as in the final multiplier. And your prize will be paid in kind based on your bet amount. As in general math, remember, a 0X multiplier on any card will result in a $0 payout. But any value above that is some form of win.
The Stake Tarot Game Compared to Reading Tarot Cards
Though the Stake game and traditional tarot card tool share a name, there are only certain overlaps between them. And the ultimate goal of each is certainly not one of them.
At Stake, after all, while fun is part of the process, your main goal is to improve your financial fortune playing the Tarot game; as in win real cash prizes. The traditional goal of the cards, however, is to provide insight or guidance in terms of your life's path.
Yet while the end-goal differs, there are definitely similarities, particularly in terms of the actual cards used in each incarnation.
In both games there are 78 cards used in the deck
Both use 22 of what are called Major Arcana cards and 56 Minor Arcana cards
And both have an element of card flipping for the reveal
So certainly very much related in theme, and a great choice for those who like to see what's hidden beneath the cards.
Play Tarot for Free Online
If this all sounds enticing, we couldn't agree more. Tarot cards are always fascinating, and we love how Stake has done this twist on the genre.
But it's fair not to want to put the fate of your money into a card game before seeing what it's about. Which is why it's great to know that Stake Tarot is available for free. Yep! Just open the game, and play without wagering a thing.
How you ask? Simply leave the 'Bet Amount' field set to 0.00 and click 'Bet'. The cards will play out exactly like in real money mode. You can even adjust the 'Difficulty' level when playing for free - which by the way is the perfect way to figure out what's right for you, or jump up a level with a few practice rounds in between.
How much does it cost for a tarot card reading at Stake? Whatever you want! True, it's not necessarily a classic pay what you want (PWYW) setup, since it's a gambling game. But practically speaking, it is, since we established you can play for free. So yes, you can even choose to "pay" nothing, though you won't win any cash that way.
Or you can bet close to nothing, since Tarot, like all Stake Originals lets you play in real money mode for the most minimal of stakes. We're talking $0.0001 USD or the equivalent in other currencies, which is as low as the interface can handle.
On the upper end, by the way, there's almost no limit. That means you can go all out with max bets valued in the millions - like $2,000,000 CAD or 100 BTC - as a couple of eye-popping examples.
Stake's Original Tarot Game Paytable
The prize for each round of gameplay is determined by a simple calculation of the 3 cards revealed. Spelled out, it looks like this:
Your bet X left card multiplier X middle card multiplier X right card multiplier = Payout
This same basic equation is used for determining payouts, at every 'Difficulty' level of play. However, the multiplier for each card, while always random, has a different cap, for each such mode. The higher mode you choose, the higher the potential card value, though of course, the harder it is to win, as you can see in this Tarot game multiplier chart.
Mode
Risk level
Top multiplier
Easy
Lowest risk
20X
Medium
Balanced risk and reward
160X
Hard
Higher risk
1,176X
Expert
Highest volatility
5,000X
To confuse things a bit, there's an order of things, like in traditional tarot card readings. That is, the
cards are revealed based on their Arcana, meaning different weighting, with the middle card having a Major Arcana (so with the higher potential multipliers), while the other cards to either side each have a Minor Arcana (with a smaller weighting "role").
As an example, let's say the middle card with its Major Arcana has a 50X multiplier, then to the left of it is a card with 3X multiplier, you're at a 150X prize. Now the card to the right has a 3X multiplier, so that brings you to a total 450X payout on that round. If you bet $10 then that would be:
$10 X 3X 50 X 3 = $4,500 prize
You don't, by the way, need to understand this Arcana concept. It's just a fun connection to the original tarot card reading game.
Special Features You'll Enjoy
As you may have already recognised in reading this review, this game is inherently special and unique to the core.
It has a truly rare theme for an online casino game, a massive betting range, and a whole lot of multipliers in coming up with your winning sum.
Each round is quick and simple, with little for you to do beyond setting your wager amount and clicking the 'Bet' button. The action unfolds in a couple of seconds and you're onto the next round.
The main "extra" you may want to explore is the aforementioned 'Difficulty' level, which lets you set the volatility level of the round, and concurrently increase the top prize potential.
Plus, there's the auto play option which you can activate, by clicking the 'Auto' tab and filling in the open fields there.
Note: By default, the game opens with the 'Manual' tab showing, where you manually fill in each field each round. You'll need to click on the 'Auto' tab, to the right of that, to get to the auto play screen.
In the bottom left corner of the screen, you'll also find the standard features of all Stake Originals. These include under the cog icon the options for 'Instant Bet', 'Animations', 'Game Info', and 'Hotkeys'. To the right of that you can click on the rectangle to expand the game into 'Theatre Mode'. And to the right of that, a link to view your 'Live Stats'.
Streamers Who Play the Original Tarot Casino Game
Although you can play Tarot for free to check it out firsthand, there's a reason we love watching streaming. And that's because these guys (and yes, there's still usually dudes) are just so entertaining.
So when the game dropped in late October 2025, we anticipated a lot of streamers featuring it since most of them stream from Stake, and this of course is a Stake Original. And they have not disappointed. True, we haven't been able to find all top streamers playing Tarot live on Kick. Nor have they all uploaded their streams to YouTube for posterity's sake.
But we've definitely seen slots influencers like Sketchy showcasing the game, as well as Founder Plays Big, Myrl, Delta, and many other up-and-coming casino streaming names. And it's quite possible giants like ClassyBeef and Roshtein have also given it a go, since they're both serious Stake streamers.
Tarot Stake Game Strategy and Winning Tips
And now for the favourite part of our casino reviews for many readers, our winning tips. Or at least we wish we had some.
Because let's be honest. We don't. This is a totally random game, with results governed by an RNG you can in no way influence. And it doesn't even feature a smidgeon of strategy, like some would argue could apply in a card game like blackjack.
So what can you do to improve your chances of winning when playing Tarot? Well not much beyond playing smart. That means:
Understand the 'Difficulty' modes and their implications. The higher the level, the higher the volatility. So while you can win more, you'll do so less often, which can be both frustrating and hard on your budget. Your best bet is then to start lower, like on the game's default of 'Medium' mode, and move up from there. And we'd add, try each level in free play mode first to make sure you get it.
Set limits. If you choose to use the auto bet option, make sure to toggle on the 'Advanced' options so you can set a stop on a certain profit threshold. Also, since auto play can get expensive, we generally recommend you stay in front of the screen and put a halt to play, if fate and fortune aren't going your way.
Stay in control. Gambling can be fun and immersive, but don't get carried away. Win or lose, always pay attention to your bankroll, your win goals, and how much time you've been playing. Up or down, you should always have a clear goal for when to call it a day.
Have fun. Most importantly remember, gambling is a pastime, and hobbies are meant to be fun. If you simply enjoy playing, you can do so for free to fill your free time. Or if you prefer real money betting, you can keep the stakes low to moderate risk. Whichever you choose, keep your purpose in mind. Not just to win, but to enjoy the journey.
By the way, Stake Smart is an excellent resource for supporting responsible gambling with educational articles, gambling limit tools, a self-assessment option, and even a budget calculator.
If you're looking for a mobile casino game, then Tarot makes for an excellent choice.
As with all Stake Originals, you can play the game directly from the web browser of your smartphone or tablet, using any operating system like iOS or Android, and instantly enjoy a responsive and user-friendly experience.
To do so, simply open your preferred mobile browser - like Chrome or Safari - navigate to the Stake website, log in, and start playing Tarot. You get the same games (or in this case game), features, betting options, and account access as you would on a desktop computer. No download required.
How's that for an easy mobile gambling experience? And one you can win real money playing, at that!
Stake Casino Tarot Game FAQs
Even the most in-depth reviews can leave a few burning questions unanswered, especially for a game as unique as Tarot. This FAQ section is designed to quickly address the ones we've heard come up, so you can confidently dive into the game when you're ready.
Yes. The subject of this review, as in the Tarot game available at Stake, is indeed an online casino game. Stake is an online casino, after all, so any game you'd find there is played online.
There are, by the way, also actual tarot card readings available online. But what we're referring to here, while it draws its inspiration from that art, is a gambling game, and as such a totally different - though no less fascinating - phenomenon.
2.) Where can I play the Tarot game?
Again, Tarot as in the subject of this game review, is available only at Stake. In fact, it is officially found under the 'Stake Originals' category at the online casino. You can find that, in the side navigation of the website from the desktop interface, or mid-screen if you're visiting the casino from your phone. Or if you're already at Stake, type in the word Tarot to the onsite search bar to pinpoint it.
You can also simply click to the game from this very review for direct access to play at the casino.
We just covered that in answering the question as to where you can play the Tarot game. But we'll repeat it for those skimming this expert article.
Yes, the original crypto game we've been writing about until now is indeed 100% exclusive to Stake casino. This means it can only be found there; now and forever.
There are, however, a small handful of other casino games that do reference the tarot card concept that you can find at a multitude of online operators. For example, there's the Tarot Treasures slot game from Push Gaming, Arcana Pop from AvatarUX that alludes to the card type, and Madame Mystique of Pragmatic Play fame featuring a fortune teller, though admittedly in this incarnation, revealing fate with a crystal ball rather than cards.
4.) Is Tarot a crypto game?
Yes, you could definitely classify Tarot as a crypto casino game. Stake, its creator and home, after all, operates using major cryptocurrencies - like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tether - positioning itself as a crypto-first platform. That means you'll be depositing, betting, and withdrawing digital currencies to fund your gambling on this, and any other Stake game.
Tip: If you prefer fiat gambling, there are some options for that as well, depending on your location.
5.) Can I gamble with real money on Tarot?
Playing for real money, as in gambling, is actually the point of a casino game. Which goes to say, that of course you can gamble with real money on the Stake Tarot game.
As we just covered above, you can do so in various crypto currencies. In fact, any of the 20+ options accepted in the Stake Wallet interface. Plus, you can place your bets in a handful of local currencies like CAD, JPY, and INR depending on your location.
6.) Can I win real money playing Tarot?
Just like you can bet real money you can win real money playing Tarot at Stake. Again, this is the glory of the game. At least part of it, because it's admittedly fun even in free play mode. But since we love gambling, we're betting real money in hopes of winning cash, which is exactly what you'll do in a successful round of play, if you're lucky.
7.) How much money can I win playing Tarot?
The top prize playing Tarot is 5,000X your bet. So that's the most you can win. The question then is how much you can bet, to get to the top dollar and cents value. And that here, depends on the currency you're using.
That is, Tarot allows for almost unlimited bet amounts, like even in the $1-milllion plus range. So as an exponent, you can only begin to imagine. Even with a 20X multiplier and certainly with the game's max of 5,000X. True, such a jackpot will be rare, but know it's possible to win THAT much money playing this game. More life-changing than any tarot card reading session, we'd say.
8.) What are the odds of winning at Tarot?
The official return to player of Stake Tarot is a 98% RTP. That means statistically speaking, the game is designed to return $0.98 cents for every $1 wagered, over the long run.
The remaining 2% is what's called the house edge. So $2 for every $100 bet is the casino's guaranteed profit on the game, also over the long term. This is undeniably low, which again, means pretty good odds for you to win.
Just keep in mind, because Tarot is a high volatility game, the actual odds of winning a single round - and the size of the potential multiplier - depend on the 'Difficulty' level you select. So you're not going to win 98% of the time you play, or 98 out of 100 rounds. But you most definitely will enjoy some wins, especially if you play for a while.
9.) What are the 'Difficulty' levels in Tarot?
The 'Difficulty' level is a field that you, the player, is able to set before each round of play.
Basically, put in more familiar gambling terms, it's the volatility of the game. Your options are 'Easy', 'Medium', 'Hard', and 'Expert'. 'Easy' offers the highest chance of smaller wins, capped with multipliers of 20X. And on the upper end, 'Expert' has a very low chance of winning, but the highest potential reward of up to 5,000X your bet.
The game, by the way, opens on the default option of 'Medium' which is considered a nice middle ground.
10.) Is Tarot a provably fair game?
Like all Stake Originals, Tarot is a provably fair game. That is, it uses cryptographic technology (a combination of a server seed, client seed, and nonce) to generate results for each round of play.
In so doing, this system allows you to independently verify the fairness of every round played on the blockchain. Beyond interesting, this transparent method guarantees that the results are genuinely random and non-manipulable as you can actually see them. That being said, an RNG at a licensed online casino is equally reliable.
11.) What's so special about Stake Tarot?
Stake Tarot is a totally unique online casino game. It's really simple to play and includes a much-loved "game" of chance element, if you consider tarot cards a game. Some do, while others see them more as a life-guiding tool.
In any event, what's really important, is that tarot cards are a perfect component to integrate into a game of chance. And the clever use of them in this game is particularly appealing, both visually and conceptually, making this game definitively stand out from other popular titles on the iGaming scene.
12.) Is Tarot a card game?
In a sense you could say Tarot is a card game. It does in fact use a deck of 78 cards, albeit tarot cards rather than the classic Kings and Queens found in a standard deck.
Besides the difference in deck size and composition, it's also nothing like classic card games such as blackjack or poker in its aim. In fact, there's no aim to Tarot. Or at least nothing for you to do beyond setting the volatility level and betting. This makes it in a way more like a slots game, in terms of pure randomness of results, rather than a standard card game, which most certainly has an element of strategy built in.
13.) How do the Tarot multipliers work?
Each round of Stake Tarot features 3 cards on the screen. Once you click 'Bet' they will be flipped in quick succession, starting with the middle card, followed by the one to its left and then to its right.
Each of these cards has a special image, and more importantly multiplier on it. The size of the multiplier is capped at each 'Difficulty' level.
Easy = Top multiplier of 20X
Medium = Top multiplier of 160X
Hard = Top multiplier of 1,176X
Expert = Top multiplier of 5,000X
These multipliers are then multiplied by your bet to determine your prize.
14.) How are prizes calculated in Tarot?
Your final win is calculated by multiplying your initial wager by the multiplier values revealed on the 3 cards. As an equation, that means:
Your win = Bet amount X left card multiplier X middle card multiplier X right card multiplier
Don't worry. You don't need to be good at math to calculate the win. This is a sophisticated online casino game, and the programmers have taken care of that for you; i.e. the game will do the calculating automatically for you. But it's good as a player, to know the backstory of how it's done.
15.) Why can't I access the Tarot game?
While Tarot is available in most locations without geo-restrictions, there can be instances where you'll see the 'Not available in your region' text over the thumbnail.
If that's the case, you can try playing it at one of the localised sites, depending on where you're located like stake.us for US players, or stake.pe for those in Peru.
Another option is to use a VPN to get around the geo-restrictions. Though a VPN will definitely work at Stake, we remind you it's technically forbidden, so do with that what you will.
Our Expert Opinion on the Stake Original Tarot Casino Game
As casino reviewers, we can safely say that we absolutely love new games. Already for trying we award points, because nothing beats originality factor in an industry packed with so many options. Well that, and of course fair play, as gambling is nothing without it. Stake's Tarot game, of course is both. Completely original and totally fair. But what we love is beyond those basics.
This is a fast-paced, multiplier-driven card game that entirely avoids the traditional spinning reels of slots, but with the same random luck results; i.e. no skill required (something we admittedly appreciate when relaxing with gambling).
The adjustable volatility level makes it fun, offering 4 modes from 'Easy' to 'Expert' with multipliers of up to 5,000X. Plus, it boasts a very high theoretical 98% RTP, making it super attractive on the winning front too.
And of course, we like the tie-in of theme to that of tarot card reading, which works particularly well for an online casino game.
Sitting still has never been my strength, and my colleagues say that I don't need a chair because I'm always on the move. My dream to play professional soccer didn't work out, but it turns out mobile gaming is not a bad alternative either. I prefer to be out and about instead of sitting in an office, so mobile gaming has turned out to be the perfect match. I test mobile casinos and their platforms from my phones and tablets so I have a clear idea how they perform on different devices. From performance to the latest mobile promotions, I'm always on top of it all!
