Playtech is one of the most established software providers, supplying not just games but also the backend to many online casinos. Many players will know Playtech for its progressive games and high variance slots, in particular the company is known for its series of progressive jackpots, such as Age of the Gods, Kingdoms Rise and DC Comics jackpots.

However, Playtech’s portfolio actually covers the full range of casino games, from slots, card and table games, live dealers, a poker network, bingo and sportsbetting products. Founded in 1999, Playtech is a publicly traded company on the London Stock Exchange today.

Not as many online casinos carry Playtech games as they do with Microgaming and NetEnt as the company selectively curates casinos before licencing its products to gaming sites. In this Playtech Casino review, we will mostly talk about its slots and live casino, and we will also recommend the best Playtech casinos for players in Canada.

The History of Playtech

Playtech was founded in 1999 in Estonia and its first casino product was on the market two years later. It very quickly grew and became one of the largest software providers in the industry, not just with casino games, but also with online poker rooms, sports betting, and bingo games. In 2004, the Playtech iPoker network, the world’s biggest poker network, went live.

Large online casinos like William Hill and Ladsbroke quickly signed on to license Playtech’s games. The software provider also works with smaller studios such as Quickspin and Eyecon to create more diverse slots for players. Playtech eventually moved its headquarters to the Isle of Man, and now has offices in 19 countries, counting 5,900 employees. Today, Playtech is publicly traded company on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent on the FTSE 250 Index.

The Best Playtech Slots

slotmachine iconPlaytech is most famous for its progressive slots and high variance slots. Following the success of its Gladiator jackpot game, based on the movie of the same name, the company has rolled out an entire series of very popular progressive jackpot games based on Marvel Comics characters, which was eventually replaced by a new line of DC Comics jackpot slots.

More recent Playtech jackpots include Age of the Gods and Kingdom Rises. However, Playtech has much more than progressive jackpots, with numerous video slots that are worth checking out.

Our editorial team at Casino.Guide has put together some of the most popular Playtech slots below.

1.) Great Blue

playtech great blueFeaturing an underwater theme and an Orca whale, Great Blue is a high volatility slot. It has a fairly straightforward 5 reel 25 payline game with free spins and multipliers as its special features. The RTP is 94.25%, so this may not be the best game for newbies. However, more experienced players love the massive payouts Great Blue offers, with the top prize at 500,000 coins.

2.) Mr Cashback

playtech mr cashbackThe Mr Cashback slot may not be the most gorgeous looking slot ever, but that’s not why players play this game. The highlight to Mr Cashback is that if you don’t win within 50 spins, you’ll get your line bet multiplied by 50 back in return. That’s a pretty awesome deal. Other special features include free spins, multipliers and sticky wilds.

3.) Age of the Gods: Furious 4

Playtech age of Gods 4Playtech is famous for releasing series of progressive jackpots, and Age of the Gods is one of them. 4.) Kingdoms Rise: Forbidden Forest

Kingdoms Rise is another progressive jackpot series from Playtech. It’s based on a fantasy theme, and Kingdoms Rise Forbidden Forest is a beautiful looking game with glowing fireflies and majestic but vicious creatures. It’s not all looks though, because this game stands out with its 576 ways to win over an expanding reels format. For a Kingdoms Rise slot, Forbidden Forest feels surprisingly low variance. It’s also friendly to both budget players and high rollers with maximum bet all the way up to $2,000 per spin.

The game features a 3 reel 3 row format, but it’s much more exciting than the fruit machine. A friendly goblin is at your side helping you spin the reels, and the game has a pick me bonus game with instant cash prizes.
