Game on. It's time to put your throwing skills to the test in this original casino game from Stake.
Based on the pub classic darts game, the big difference here is that there's no judge, no opponent, and no spectators. It's just you versus the machine.
But the aim remains the same; the closer your dart throw lands to the centre, the higher the multiplier will be. As in the prize money you'll collect.
Quick and simple, there's almost no learning curve involved, rather a whole lot of fun! And if you're lucky, the potential for some serious cash winnings.
Game highlights:
- Familiar dart game board
- Simple, fun play
- Great betting range
- Adjustable difficulty level
- Auto play option available
- 500X your bet top win
- High RTP of 98%
- Available exclusively at Stake
Tip: Stake has increasingly tightened its IP accessibility. That means you may require a VPN service to access Darts. Turn on a VPN to any country not mentioned as restricted in the Stake Terms of Service. From our experience, it should work. ➜ More info
Stake Darts Game Rules
You don't need to head out to the pub for a round of darts these days. Or hang a board from your door. Instead, you can enjoy the simple and engaging play of this timeless classic with the new Stake game, intuitively named Darts.
Developed by its internal team, this original casino game offers all that we love in that category of play - a minimalist UI, with intuitive actions, and the opportunity to win big.
As you'll see when you open the game, there are two sides to the screen, in the exact format as found in all Stake originals like Limbo, Pump, and Mines. On the left of the screen is where all the commands are found, and to the right of that, the main field of play.
To understand what's required, let's start on the left side of the board, since that's where you'll need to take a few actions first.
As you'll see, that side's first opened with the 'Manual' tab displayed. That means you will need to manually input your commands here. Nothing complicated, mind you. It's just a matter of two fields:
- 'Bet Amount' - This is how much you want to wager on the round you're playing. You can either enter a number, or use the arrows to toggle the amount up and down.
- 'Difficulty' - This is essentially the game's volatility. The default is set to Medium, but there's also Easy, or above Medium, both Hard and Expert levels.
Once you've done that, all that's left to do is press the bright green 'Bet' button, and the dart will throw itself. You can't take aim, so there's no skill involved in this variant. It's really just pure random luck where the arrow lands.
It could land off the board in a blacked-out region, which means you lose. However, if it lands in one of the coloured areas, you'll be paid according to the multiplier for that colour, as indicated at the bottom of the screen, with the green bullseye, obviously always being the highest paying one.
The size of the bullseye as well as the multiplier wins change, depending on which level you choose:
Stake Darts Game Free Play
So that's really the part you'll need to get used to with this new game. The fact that you don't have any control over the outcome; rather only as to how much you bet and the level of difficulty at which you want to play.
Really, those are trivial things, with zero learning curve. But we get why you'd want to test drive this game first, which is why Stake has cleverly made Darts - like of all of its original casino games - available for free. Just visit the casino, open the game, and play online for free.
Stake Casino Darts Betting Limits
If you've read our other Stake casino original games reviews like for Pump, Flip, or Snakes, you've likely noticed a few common themes. The originality factor of course. The simple UI. The 98% RTP. And in the case of what we're covering in this section of the review, the near zero limits on betting.
By that we mean that you can bet as little as technically possible (like a single cent). Or almost as much as you want, reaching even $2,000,000 or more, depending on the currency that you're using. Such is the beauty of Stake original games.
Original Darts Paytable
There is no exact paytable for this version of Darts. Rather, prizes in this game are awarded according to multipliers. Each winning section of the board is marked in a certain colour, which then has an associated multiplier for that colour shown at the bottom of the board.
- Easy mode has multipliers ranging from 0.5X up to 8.5X.
- Medium level has multipliers that range from 0.4X to 16X.
- Hard mode multipliers go from 0.2X up to 63X.
- And Expert level has the most extreme multiplier range, going from 0.1X up to 500X your bet.
As you can see, by the way, while a higher difficulty level gives you a higher potential top prize, it simultaneously reduces the value of the lowest prize levels. Not for all of the colours mind you, but for the two lower paying gray ones, you'll get less.
Special Features
As for features, there aren't really any special features as in bonus rounds or even early cashouts here.

We recommend setting controls like 'Stop on Loss' to help you stay in control during auto play.
The one thing to point out is that while above we described the game being opened with the 'Manual' tab showing (on the left side of the board), if you look right beside it, there's actually also an 'Auto' tab option.
If you open this up, you'll see the interface for setting up auto play including your 'Bet Amount' and 'Difficulty' level, as well as now the 'Number of Bets' you want placed consecutively, and any loss or win prompts you want to add in.
You can also open the game settings by clicking on the cog icon in the bottom left corner of your screen to make an instant bet, reduce the animation (for even faster play), or make the max bet without any toggling.
There are also live stats available, theatre mode to see it bigger on your screen, and the option to favourite the game, if you want to keep in your top games list.
Streamers Who Play Darts
As soon as Darts was released, Stake streaming loyalists were already at work. That is, there were almost instantly streamers live hosting and uploading sessions demonstrating the game play, as much as their impressions of it.
But if the question is, are there Darts streamers? Then yes. As a Stake original this is the exact type of game that content creators (i.e. influencers) like.
Stake Darts Game Strategy and Tips
In regular darts play there is of course an element of strategy involved, or perhaps more accurately, honed skill. However in the Stake Darts game, not so much so.
So what can you do to improve your odds when playing online Darts? Well nothing really. Sorry to put the truth so bluntly.
What you need to do instead is to first understand the game, which this Darts review alongside free play will ensure. Beyond the basic mechanics, this also means navigating your personal strategy for volatility, as in finding the difficulty level that's right for you.
This choice, needless to say, will in part be influenced by your bankroll and budget, and how comfortable (and able) you feel to use it.
To help you out, you may want to consider in advance how much money you're willing to play with, and stick to that amount. Similarly, you may want to set win or loss limits in advance, so you know when to call it a day. And of course, never chase losses; being one of safe gambling's primary rules.
Play Darts on Stake Mobile Casino
Darts has always been a fairly mobile game. As an example, we even have a dart board tacked up on the office wall here. And some have a portable one that can be hung on a door, to entertain themselves wherever they go.
Now with the online version being mobile compatible, it's all the more convenient. Just visit Stake from your phone, on any device (like Android or iOS), and you're good to go. This time playing for money as much as honour or fun. No casino app or game download needed. And no need to remember to bring any equipment with you, since you always, realistically, have your phone.

1.) Is the Stake Darts game like pub darts?
No, Stake Darts is not like traditional pub darts. In pub darts, you physically throw darts, relying on skill and accuracy to hit specific segments for points, ultimately aiming to reach 0 points before your opponent(s).
Stake Darts on the other hand is a casino game where you place a bet, and a random number generator determines where the virtual dart lands, offering multipliers for a cash prize payout. There are no opponents, a single throw, and no points system.
The main semblance is really just the dart throwing concept and the physical layout of the dart board.
2.) Which software provider created this Darts game?
The version of Darts covered in this casino review refers to the one created by Stake. As such, it is categorised at the casino itself under its 'Stakes Originals' tab, alongside other legendary in-house creations such as Dice, Mines, Rock Paper Scissors, and Plinko.
3.) As an original, does this mean it's only available at Stake?
Yes. Like all Stake original crypto games, Darts was created by the casino's in-house development team (or perhaps outsourced to be used under the casino's name). In any event, whatever the exact arrangement behind its creation, Darts, like all Stake originals is and will always remain exclusive to the casino. That's part of the game's appeal; and part of what makes Stake so highly regarded itself.
4.) How many dart throws do I get in this game?
Stake Darts is a one and done deal. That is, you place a bet, the software throws a single dart, and where it lands is what you win (or lose).
This is opposed to certain other Stake original games which are cumulative - like Pump or Flip. In such cases, after each win, you can choose to collect your winnings, or proceed for another round increasing your prize potential when you do.
5.) What does the 'Difficulty' field indicate in this game?
There are four levels of what is called 'Difficulty' in this game being: Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert. They are basically a progression of volatility.
Easy is the lowest level, with a larger bullseye, and more frequent hits on multipliers (though smaller multipliers overall). On the other end of the spectrum, Expert is the highest, with the smallest bullseye, less frequent hits on multipliers, but the multipliers themselves can be significantly larger. Medium and Hard, for their parts, obviously fall in between.
6.) Which level of 'Difficulty' is best for winning at Darts?
The "best" level for winning at Stake Darts depends on your playing style and risk tolerance.
The Easy and Medium levels offer more frequent, smaller wins, which is better for consistent returns. On the other hand, Hard and Expert levels have higher volatility, meaning fewer wins, but much larger potential payouts if you hit a big multiplier.
Ultimately, since it's a game of chance, there's no guaranteed "best" level for winning; only for managing your risk and reward, as much as your expectations.
7.) Does the Darts game have good odds?
Yes, Stake Darts has good odds compared to many other casino games. It boasts a high return to player, typically around 98%, which means the house edge is only about 2%. This indicates that, on average, a large percentage of the money wagered is returned to players over time.
However, it's important to remember that individual outcomes are still random, and past results do not guarantee future wins. Nor does a 98% RTP mean that you'll win 98 out of 100 rounds you play. It's a collective, generative number for stats reflecting cumulative results of maaaaaany rounds of play.
8.) Is Stake Darts a crypto game?
Yes, this Darts variant certainly qualifies as a crypto casino game. It uses the provably fair algorithm to determine game results, which is basically blockchain technology. Also, it is offered on the Stake.com platform, which primarily operates using cryptocurrencies for deposits, play, and withdrawals, though you can use fiats like CAD there too.
The crypto options by the way, are pretty diverse with Bitcoin, Ethereum, and some 20 other altcoins accepted for gambling on Darts, and all other Stake casino games.
9.) Does this version of Darts use the probably fair algorithm?
Indeed, Stake Darts uses the provably fair algorithm. This means the game's outcome is determined by a combination of a "server seed" (from Stake) and a "client seed" (from your browser), along with a "nonce" (a number that increases with each bet). After each game round, you can use these seeds to independently verify that the outcome was genuinely random and not manipulated - which essentially means you're able to check the fairness of every single game round for yourself.
Tip: To do so, you can find the link in a small box in the bottom right corner of the game screen labelled 'Fairness'. Click that link for more details, and to activate the algorithm yourself.
10.) How much money can I win at Stake casino playing Darts?
The maximum you can win playing Stake Darts is 500 times your bet.
So in this case, if you bet $1, the biggest potential win is $500. If you bet $10, you could win $5,000, and so forth. Since there's almost no limit to how much you can bet, you can keep doing the math using that equation yourself.
Just note, this highest multiplier of 500X is exclusively available if you choose the Expert level of play, and will be lower for others, though still certainly worthwhile.
11.) What do the multipliers at the bottom of the screen show?
The multipliers at the bottom of the screen in Stake Darts display the potential payout values for each segment of the dartboard, corresponding to your chosen 'Difficulty' level.
They essentially act as a legend for the board, allowing you to see the exact risk and reward associated with each possible outcome before you "throw" the dart. And are of course used in calculating your pay, should you win.
12.) Is there a bonus round in Darts?
No, this game doesn't feature a bonus round in the traditional sense, like free spins or a mini side game.
Its gameplay is rather exceptionally straightforward: you place a bet, a virtual dart is "thrown" based on the provably fair algorithm, and you lose or win and are paid based on the multiplier segment it lands on. That's it.
13.) Is there a bonus I can use for playing Darts?
While there's no Darts bonus that we know of, there's no reason not to use the money you get from other bonuses to play. Like the 100% up to $500 first deposit bonus we secured for new players (that's a tip, and also a reminder to use the Stake bonus code "casinoguide" if you want to claim it).
There are also many bonuses accrued through the Stake VIP Club that could be relevant, and sometimes bonus drops on its social media or Telegram channels.
Our Expert Opinion on the Stake Original Darts Casino Game
Undoubtedly, the Stake Darts game is a bit different from traditional darts, as it's a casino game based on multipliers and chance, rather than throwing skills. But it's no less fun, and some would argue in its own way, equally challenging.
True there's not much to do beyond juggle your risk tolerance between the difficulty levels and hope for luck to unfold. But it's surprisingly engaging, and certainly simple, perfect for those who love pure chance games.
Or put in the lingo of the genre, we'd say, a bullseye for those who like original crypto games.
